1 qt/L milk
1 stick (120gram) butter
1/2 cup flour (1.25dl)
1 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp nutmeg
1 cup grated parmesan, fresh is best
salt to taste
Melt butter in a sauce pan, add seasoning and flour, whisk and let it simmer on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Then add milk and keep whisking. Keep heat on medium, whisk often or it sticks to the bottom and burns. Takes about 10-15 minutes for it to thicken, it has to be gravy thick. Add cheese and whisk well. Once the cheese is absorbed, we're done.
